So two posts on hip hop in a row...

2nd post...still on the hip hop tip...and this is bout another blazing/very fucking interesting/very fucking funny mix tape by those silly sods Das Racist - "Sit Down, Man".

In case you havent been on the internet for a few years, these two burst on the scene with the novelty track "Combination Pizza Hutt and Taco Bell".  Its about...well who the fuck knows, maybe being at the Combination Pizza Hutt and Taco Bell with like a blunt?

Dunno but fucking hilariously stupid.  Anyway they followed that gem up with a few tracks, namely "Chicken and Meat" and my fave (before grabbing their latest) "Rainbow in the Dark" with a sick synthy beat:

"Like a tree or the tears of a clown/Yo Im afraid of clowns Im afraid of small towns/positive energy is something like Im afraid of all frowns"

And we're all afraid of small towns right? Fuck just visit Gore...itll scar you deep.

Anyway their verses are littered with laugh out loud shit and references to hip hop obscurities...they just take the piss...with skill, its great.

And they keep this up with their latest...and maybe its because Im about their age but if you sample "Days of Our Lives" and drop rhymes over it...ima buy it.  Luckily for all the poor folks you can grab this for free - right here.

The beats just bang so hard on this thing...check the following:

"town business"

"you can sell anything" produced by Diplo

"sit down, man" feat. El P

Anyway you gotta hear this...i now can get up in the morning happy

Back to roots

1st up Id like to say that Hip Hop has always been a massive part of my musical experience - from Native Tongues to Wu to Ice Cube and 2LiveCrew, ive always loved big beats and smooth flows.  So this is where Ill start.

And Ill start by giving big props to this crazy group of teenagers from Cali, known collectively as Odd Future Wolf Gang or OFWGKTA.  These lads are quite rapidly garnering a cult following around the globe (they even got some love from Pitchfork!), with their weird ass rhymes laid over tweaked out bumpy beats.

While I cant say that every song has grabbed me from the get go (I guess Im old fashioned when it comes to my taste in beats, I prefer the sampled and looped kinda track ala DJ Premiere) they have definitely got something unique going on.

And they love what they do...passionately.  Head dog (if they have a head dog) Tyler the Creator seems to pour his soul into this shit, which I love...hes not half assed and he knows what he likes.  Plus, their albums are free to download which is always good...and its tightly produced so its not like you are getting a bum product even if it is free.

To start off with I would recommend checking the following tracks:

"Elephunk Circus"  by Mellowhype (aka Hodgy Beats and Left Brain)

"Seven" by Tyler the Creator

"Earl" by Earl Sweatshirt - check the vid on YouTube and remember being young and fucking nuts!

So yeah, loving what these cats are doing right now - for more check their homepage out, wierdass talent   galore, pics, vids, free tunes and more...

oh yeah and "Fuck Steve Harvey!" :)
